When did 210 HP become "no go"?  The horsepower war claims another victim...  Considering the Mustang is priced alongside or less than the GTI, Civic Si, etc., it's 210 HP and RWD are plenty of "go".  That said, if forced to make a decision, I'd still rather the V8...  but I would prefer to skip the 'Stang entirely.

I think it does the job. The only negative is the 4.0 is not a state of the art motor and for 4 litres it should have higher numbers.  Typically small problems are MAF, thermostat and poor gas mileage.

V6 Mustang performance is actually pretty good. Remember torque is more important than HP in NA.

The 6 cyl Mustang is way more satisfying to drive than a spec sheet test drive would suggest. Especially with a 5 spd, acceleration is very respectable. And the motor sounds great too. For many buyers the V6 is a worthy alternative to the V8. Very good bang for the buck (for those that like the Mustang).

Agreed, the 240 ft.lbs of torque is nothing to look down at especially with an MT. The V6 Stang would out run my old POS 1981 Z-28.

I think this is why the Mustang is still in production and still sells fairly well.It offers a V6 that buyers can afford or for those that don't require a V8. This is probably part of the reason GM 's Camaro didn't sell as well so they canned it[It became very expensive].

Personally after this last redo it looks too big to me. I much prefer the older Fox bodied cars from 1986 -1993 with the 302 V8.

Really? I owned an '87 GT and even though at the time I thought it was great, I look at pictures now and can't believe how ugly it was. I'm too lazy to look up the numbers but I'd bet that if a current V6 isn't quicker to 100km/h, it's very very close.

I had a "secretary special" Mustang coupe in Tampa last year. Plenty of power and reasonable fuel economy if you drove sensibly. Most sources quote 0-60 in 7.0 seconds and a quarter mile time in the 15.1 or so range for the autobox.

If equiped with the "Pony package" it actually handles quite well.

Of the 2269  2007  Mustang V6 convertibles listed in the USA autotrader, 187 are 5 speed manuals; a 12 to 1 ratio.

Very rare... 'cuz here in Canada, you can't buy a 5-speed manual IS-250.  Standard is six-speed.

I'm in love with the Mustang since the day I heard the engine of my uncle's 95 one... The current design is actually great to me.

Should Ford put the new 2.0 EcoBoost as an option for the Mustang?? 65HP more and 40 lb-ft more than the V6 and I would bet it's way less addicted to gas than the 6 cyl.

I'm sure Mitlovs numbers don't consider that for the IS250 AWD a manual tranny isn't even offered.  I wonder what the breakdown would be with just the RWD IS250?

But yea..no big surprise there.  Even the Corvette sells more autos than stick...


And I drove the V6 Mustang.  I'd say it's as quick as my stock 1987 or my 1989 was....
