Confident in Audi reliability? Or CAA Plus Gold Membership? 
Seen a number of new Audi's on tow trucks this year, the most of any make.

Statistically speaking (i.e., Consumer Reports), you're better off in an Audi than many other European makes, especially Mercedes.  Even BMW has had a few black eyes reliability-wise recently (Automobile Magazine's 330i long-term tester had catastrophic engine failure and needed a whole new engine; Car & Driver's ate a wheel bearing and also left them on the side of the road with a broken ignition slot).  Personally, I'd place more trust in Audis than any other European brand besides BMW and Volvo.  They were really popular where I grew up (Boulder, Colorado) because of the combination of AWD, turbos, and upscale interiors.  If Audis never ran reliably, no one would ever get around Boulder.

And before you say "well I'd rather go Japanese," remember that Japan doesn't really offer anything in the Z4/TT 3.2 quattro/SLK class.  The closest thing I can think of is the G37.

uh, I may have misread it, but does the original article say the TT is available in Quattro and manual in both 2.0T and 3.2 trim?

If they do, my ideal trim would be silver 2.0T convertible quattro.
Of course, even if they do, I can't buy one so it's a moot, but anyway.

I don't understand why 2.0T isn't available with Quattro..  A4 has 2.0T AWD, even Golf has AWD in R32..   TT being effing expensive is ridiculous (at least in canada) without it being even offered in Quattro with 2.0T.

Yes, it's weird. They had the 1.8T Quattro before, so can't be too afraid about it looking slow.

No 2.0T Quattro.
Also, no 2.0T with manual.

Ante up the $10Gs to get either a manual or Quattro.

Same with the A3.  Other than the R32, none of this category has 2.0T and Quattro.  Remember the A4 is real Quattro, vs the TT/A3/R32 which are Haldex FWD->AWD (slip and grip).

I suppose if you're dead set on an AWD drop-top, this is about it save for some big bucks (bigger bucks, natch) cars.

But, if I want a killer drop-top, I do prefer the Honda S2000.  After some seat time in that bad-boy, I miss the VTEC slam-dunk.

If I want a power-mad AWD car, the STi is my target.  At $34K USD, there is no bigger bang for yer performance buck.

While I love the looks of the newest SLK, and even the Z4 (lacking the retro look I adored in the Z3 though) and yes, the TT is one sexy beast, the Germans have big prices and suspect quality and I'm not sure that combination is the best...
