CarTalkCanada Review: 2008 Audi A5
On the road, the A5 is two different cars, depending on what mood you're in: quiet and composed on the highway but a ton of fun in the twisties, with lots of power to push you through corners.

Day 1:

2008 Nissan Altima Coupé
Welcome back from the holidays, all.  The holiday season has come and gone, and once again, it seems like the year just whisked by.  This week I am testing the new 2008 Altima Coupé 2.5s -- I'll apologize upfront for the photos of a dirty car with snow on it, it has been close to -30 Celsius the past few days here and believe it or not, the car was clean 20km before I took the photos. A chap at the office has one of these with the v6 and 6sp. He traded in his 350Z for it and has been driving it now about 6 months I think. He seems pretty happy with it although I can't recall why other than he said he doesn't have to change the tires over in winter. He is over 50 though...maybe that's why he likes it.

This is why I would never live in Ottawa. Roll Eyes

It is pretty boring colour and car like that should be a shouty colour.
Cause In the right colour it looks great IMO.  Smiley

The new Accord Coupe puts this out to pasture style-wise for me, tho the Altima likely handles better and may be the enthusiast's/techi's choice. I've not warmed up to the giant all red rear tail lights.

Nissan seems to be building a potent yet economical 4-cyl these days. I'd like to try one sometime.

I think those donut tires ruin the look of the whole car... I've seen one with lower profile tires and with those this car looks reaaaally good... guess those are no good in the winter though

It's all a matter of personal opinion on which is nicer looking: the Accord Coupe or the Altima Coupe. I drove a 2.5 Coupe and the 3.5 and the smaller engine is a little rocket, much more responsive than on the sedan.

I just wonder, is that because u were driving two different transmissions on the 2.5? or it is the matter of the CVT Transmission software/mapping?

Just you and everyone over at the G35 forum.  Undecided

The profile is very similar, but (IMO) crappy styling details on the Altima keep the G35 looking unique.

It looks similar enough to bear a strong family resemblance, but the G35 still looks sportier and classier IMO.  Guess Nissan knew what worked styling wise and stuck with it (but dulled it down just enough so it wouldn't step on the shoes of the G)

Agreed.  The Altima coupe looked fantastic, with it's poor man's G coupe looks, but once the Accord coupe hit, the Altima looks a litte frumpy.   Funny how the stying of a competitors vehicle has that effect.

It's all subjective, I love them both and the coupe is selling really well, 146 units for Dec.  I did not think they would sell that many in December, we'll see how well it does when spring fever comes.

The Accord Coupe is certainly a better styling effort than its brick-on-wheels sean brother. But while the Accord Coupe  is trimmed down in dimensions from that bloated barge, it still nets out slightly LARGER than the Altima SEDAN and quite a bit bigger than the Altima Coupe. Looks are subjective, but I'll take the almost-a-G styling (hey, if you're going to be derivative, be so in respect of a more expensive and highly successful stablemate) over the less than harmonious Accord Coupe.
