Day-by-Day Review: 2009 Mazda RX-8 R3
For a car whose design is a full five years old, the RX-8 still turns heads, especially thanks to the R3 trim his tester wore. Not all is perfect, though: the Recaro seats are a pain, and fuel consumption is on the high side.

Used Vehicle Review:
Nissan Quest, 2004-2007

Nissan Quest, 2004-2007The Nissan Quest's quirky looks are part of its charm, says Contributing Editor Chris Chase, but reliability issues may make other minivans a better choice for used-car buyers.

IMO, the Quest is a failure for Nissan. I wouldn't be surprised if they discontinued it.

I don't know about the country as a whole but around the Toronto area I think the largest noticeable category of vehicle is the van. If it's not, it cetainly comprises a large amount of vehicles. Although we use one of the great little small cars that are available now, for most of our journeys; we still keep a van for low milage use and occasional large load. Good for camping trips and moving kids from one appartment to another.
I can't comment on the reliability or quality of the Nissan and you do not see many. Maybe pricewise there is a problem. It seems to be very long though and the swoop sides do not appeal to me. I like the completely dissappearing seats in other marques but notice short versions are now history. Thats a shame.

Siennas and Odysseys are highly priced (OVER priced atually), and they are very popular (but less so than the domestics, probably related to price).

If I was out for a used mini-van, the last of the MPV's were okay...

We have a 2004 Quest. Its been ok to us. Up to 90K kms now. Its got some electrical issues at times - mostly in the cold. The exhaust seems to have developed a hole - annoying. The rear brakes seem wear out rather fast. But otherwise solid. We paid way less than Honda or Toyota.

I had a Quest given to me as a rental replacement in lieu of a mid-size sedan once about 4 years ago. I had to drive from Ottawa to Toronto for a week so I got alot of time behind the wheel both on the highway as well as in the city. It was certainly not my cup of tea at all - the engine was the only decent thing about it. It drank fuel like there was no tomorrow. The seats felt like you were sitting on cardboard boxes. The middle console took some getting used to. Visibility was less than good. And although I really wanted to like it because of the price, and because I tend to prefer Nissan vehicles over Toyota and Honda - I simply couldn't.

The rental company gave me a free day's rental and a full tank of gas on my next rental as it turned out they had a Volvo s60 on the lot at the time and should have offered me that instead of the van.
