Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

Test Drive:
2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 coupe, six-speed manual

2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 coupe, six-speed manualSix-speed manual: The six-speed manual transmission in the redesigned 2008 Accord Coupe V6 "brings this car alive" reports Editor-in-chief, Greg Wilson.  But the Coupe's long doors make it awkward getting in and out in a parking lot, he says. Second opinion by Chris Chase.

"Long doors and difficult access to the back seats are its major flaws".  Its a 2-door COUPE for crying out loud - those are not flaws!!  The main problem is the ridiculous price.  They'll sell about 3 of these in Canada this year.

The price is high, esp when you consider that a base IS250 is now $32k. It doesn't have coupe style, doesn't have the feature content, and its down on power but it is driving the right set of wheels, looks great, and I'd rather have an L on the hood than an H.

but the best I could manage in a week of mostly urban driving was 15.3 L/100 km

Yikes.

Yikes.

Double yikes.  Shocked  Good thing it runs on regular.

Honda didn't mess this one up nearly as badly as the Accord Sedan.  They give you an honest-to-goodness 6 sp. with three pedals on the floor and styling that while still tepid, and least isn't ugly.  It's still too big though.  It may be smaller than the Accord Sedan, but it is still bigger than the sedan offerings of many competitors, including the Altima.  In fact, considering it's ample dimensions, I was a bit surprised that the back seat wasn't a LOT more accomodating than it actually is.

What a silly comment...  if the doors were shorter, it would be even harder to get into the back seat.  Yet if back seat access were easier, the doors would be longer.  It's a zero-sum game...  has the author heard of compromise?

As the other poster said, it's a coupe - if you want easy back seat access, by a sedan.   Roll Eyes

Door size isn't the only thing. Front seat still has to tilt forward, perhaps thats what the problem was?

Huh  That's just silly.  I only got to sit in the passenger side of the Accord as I was a little worried about time, didn't check the back seats.  If that's the case, then it seems like poor planning, yes.

But still, it's a coupe.  I'd expect big doors and relatively poor rear-seat access in any coupe.  Is the Accord worse than most?

Maybe it is worse, as somehow they've managed to have both long doors and poor access to the rear, which according to your reasoning must be contradictory.
