Though totally redesigned for 2008, the full-size Sequoia SUV receives a substantial reduction in price, reports contributor Haney Louka.  "But in today's economic climate, it's tough to make a case for it unless you seriously need the towing capacity," he says.

I think if Toyota wants to keep selling these, they'll have to go the route of GM: making some sort of Hybrid option or another economical method. I've yet to see a redesigned Sequoia. I don't even remember seeing any on the lot when we were out on test drives.

Thinly disguised Land Cruiser it may be but everywhere else on the planet you can buy a Land Cruiser with a proper diesel engine... which is  what an enormous truck should be fitted with.  The ones sold in the UK have a 3 litre diesel with 176 bhp and 300+ lbs ft  and according to CAR magazine get 31 MPG in a combined urban/ex-urban cycle.

Actually, no.  The Sequoia is just an SUV version of the Tundra, like what the Tahoe is to the Silverado.  I don't think the Land Cruiser shares any parts with the Sequoia besides the engines, though one of the Toyota fans should correct me if I'm wrong.  As for where they sit in the model line, the Sequoia is larger, less expensive, and I think less capable off-road.

I really don't care for the dash design at all. The Yukon is much nicer.

Now that I think of it you are right, I hardly see anyone towing with a Sequoia. I see planty of Yukons on the weekends towing boats, trailers, etc. Now even these are not towing most of the time but a lot of them do occasionally.

You don't see these units on the road here because they are too expensive for the Canadian market.  In certain regions of the US there is 0% for 72 months or $6000 off.  Couple that with much lower MSRP and buck less a gallon gas and they are doing well relative to the competition.  They tow 10,000 lbs. and unlike Canadians, Americans have big toys.

What many here forget is the Canadian market, in context to the US market, is an after thought.
