I lived with my '95 model for 8 years...which is much longer than the average apparently.

I loved the car for being able to celebrate 0-60 runs of 8.5 seconds...along with it's manual steering.  I haven't driven a "modern" one...but missed the topless drives enough to get our Mini...with 4 seats so our little 5 year old can come with us.

I like the fact that the GX and the GT have the same engine...it would make my choice of the GX pretty clear...given the GT is as tested at $40,000...new Boxsters are $46,000 in the US.

.I agree....seems like $40K is price gouging..but they must be selling to OLDE PHARTS and Advertising EXECS Grin Poke.............$10K would get ya a nice used one...and 90 odd percent of the FUN maybe 110%...................signed  cheap Old Fart....... Wink

Nope... mine's a GS, not a GT.  I couldn't see paying for leather and Xenon lights either. 

As a daily driver, even without the PRHT, it's a great (and economical / reliable) little car. 

One comment on the article:  The author writes:  "In-cabin storage spots are scarce but there is a surprisingly large lockable glove box plus a lockable bin between the seatbacks."

There are also two non-lockable bins behind the seats as well.  Considering the size of the car, there's pretty reasonable amount of storage (especially compared to those 'lesser' S2000s).  Smiley

I think the GS with the softtop is the car to get if you're planning on keeping it stock.  And the GX is great value if you're not.  Cheesy  It's too bad you can't add the LSD and six-speed to the GX, though, since I'm sure  a lot of buyers swap out the wheels and suspension components, anyway...  Smiley

I've read a lot of reviews saying the 5 spd. is much smoother and gratifying.  I think it's too bad you can't get the LSD with the 5 spd.

My dad had a '97 for a couple of years.  It was so much fun.

And you can buy a Hard Dog roll bar that bolts into the same points as the stock seat 'hoops'.  Put in better shocks, springs and a rear RX8 sway bar and you'd have a great daily drive and track car.  Grin
