Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

Cortina:  At least Nissan is bringing their cars over!..

True. But it is still like dangling a juicy steak in front of us. Smiley

The thing is ppl buy these cars for image, not because they are enthusiasts.

Well the trouble is with these cars. Is that most people who buy them are in the 60's. you have to be retired to even afford cars like these. Sports cars are wasted on the old.  Just like the youth is wasted on the young. Smiley

My god that is cheaper than I thought!!  Shocked Shocked Shocked

How much is an Exige or Exige S in Canada?

Canada does not get the non-supercharged Exige.

ExigeS-220 = $67,750 CDN + freight + 13% tax
ExigeS-240 = $73,995 CDN + freight + 13% tax

GT-R is a great car for the money.  I think it now beats the Corvette C6Z06 as the best bang for the buck!

Wheeeeeee!  Sweeping generalizations are fun.  In reality, a large percentage of customers buying new BMW M3s are in their 20s and 30s.  This should be the same.

Quote
While the average age of a buyer is 41, many M3 buyers are in their mid-20s, and others are closer to 56 — older enthusiasts finally buying the car they’ve long wanted.

“There is a two-humped profile for the M3’s age graph,” Koch said. “They are very young or they are old,” he said. “There are no 41-year-olds.”

Roll Eyes Yup.  That explains why Nissan has had so much trouble selling these cars!

Wait, what's that?  They've sold all of them, sight unseen, with a Nissan badge?

Just because you're too much of a badge snob to buy a fast Nissan, doesn't mean everyone is.  Nissan will sell plenty of GT-Rs, regardless of badge...

Wait, what's that?  They've sold all of them, sight unseen, with a Nissan badge?

So DES why didn't you tell us just how many that would be  Huh

I along with David 31 think that in terms of marketing it might have been better to introduce this car with the same model name, but thru Infinity because they need an image boost,  IMO.

Just because you're too much of a badge snob to buy a fast Nissan,

The GT-R is a fast and non-luxurious sports car.  It has a spartan (though electronics-filled) interior, industrial exterior, and the cabin fills with grinding mechanical noises as you drive (or so I've heard).  That's not "luxury," even if it is as fast as a Porsche 911 Turbo.  In my opinion, the GT-R's closest competitor is a Corvette Z06.  Just as a Z06 wears a Chevy badge instead of a Cadillac badge, the GT-R should wear a Nissan badge instead of an Infiniti badge.

There are many late 30's and 40's guys that can afford these cars in this country.  However, IMO many would be image concerned enough to want to tell their social crowd, who don't have a clue what a GT-R is, that they drive an Infinity over a Nissan.

Slapping a luxury badge on a GT-R will not make it a luxury car, and those buyers would shun it after a test-drive.  Let them keep their C63 AMGs.

What are you talking about  Huh  The GT-R is totally pointed at the luxury sports car buyer.  TSC, DSC and the topper ....no manual trans available   Tongue

Nope, Nissan has the Z car already.  IMO, Nissan would sell more of these units thru Infinity and help boost that brand's image significantly.  Poor business decision.  Smiley

I believe we care too much about what others think of us...

LE: Luxury options don't make a car luxurious... the GT-R is definitely not a luxury car, the suspension is just too firm and there's just no aura of luxury inside/outside it...

Firstly, Mitlov introduced the word "luxury badge", but ppl how many times can you split a hair.  Roll Eyes  It's not track ready.  It's loaded to the brim with luxo features.  Obviously it's crazy fast with that much HP and AWD, much like the very junior turbo talons were back in the early 90's, and it loud with a rock solid suspension, but it's pointed at buyers that must have all those features (dual illuminated visor vanity mirrors for the gals  ).

For sure it's a Grand Tourer. Fits Infinity better.  Smiley  It might even fit the super car category.  Certainly a great deal cost wise in that category.

"As fast as a 911 Turbo"

Nope - as fast as a $1M Bugati perhaps.

The GT-R does 0-60 in 3.3 seconds. 3.2 with different rubber on a hot day. Unreal.
