Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

Too me “German Engineering” always meant better reliability. Because I was told by people about BMW and MB cars lasting a long time and hardly breaking. But I guess those were the old days.
But maybe I have to change my thinking to, “German Engineering” means better fit / finish and better feel (whatever that maybe too you).

I do really notice it with our Mini Cooper.  Just the weight and feel of the doors when you close them, you wouldn’t think it would be so for such a small car. But it feels solid. And the feel of the materials are a much better quality when I compare them to my parents’ Altima or a G35 I looked (for a friend).

If you think the Mini has solid-feeling doors and a vault-like interior, you need to spend more time in...well, anything German besides the Smart Car Wink Because the aspects you describe are generally not regarded as the Mini's strongest points.  To the contrary, I've often heard them criticized in the Mini.  Now it's handling and adrenaline factor, on the other hand...hard to beat.

The 2008 C-Classes I drove weren't the fastest or the most exciting, but they were rolling bank-vaults.  Incredible feel if that's what you're looking for.  And the 2006 325i I test-drove just felt...special.  I had some mind meld thing with it, and it telepathically knew what I wanted and did it, keeping me constantly updated with clear feedback that was never harsh.

In the modern global economy, the "nationality" of a car brand is a meaningless construct.

That's kind of my point, the Mini, is on the lower end of the pricing spectrum for German cars. And it has very sold feeling doors for such a small car, it really surprised me. So I can just imagine the bigger, higher priced (German) cars.

I Agree  My friend who just purchased the GTI had only had Japanese cars for the last longest while.  Her first VW experience (and now every time I talk to her since getting her car) has had her gushing about how it steers telepathically and just feels so solid and secure.  She even immediately sensed the feeling heightened further in her first BMW experience -- a 323i even -- and came away completely convinced.
