Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

Test drove the MkVI 1.4 TSI (160hp) Highline with the 7-speed DSG today. Very nice car, no doubt an improvement over the MkV, if not a quantum leap. Overall, the design feels like something that would be easy to live with in the long run, just like a Golf should.

How did you find the interior materials (dash, door panels, center floor console, etc.) compared to MKV? Are they soft-touch or pleasant to touch at least?

It is some months since I drove a MkV, but my impressions are that the dash is softer in the MkVI. It is not as soft as in some other, more prestigious cars, but more than adequate in my opinion. As usual, the top part is softer than the bottom, which is still soft rather than hard.

As for the door panels, I did not actually feel them but they look a bit classier than in the old one. I remember thinking the MkV door panels looked and felt a bit thin and flimsy, not so in the MkVI.

The centre console is same material as the bottom of the dash. Again, pleasant to touch at least and totally acceptable by my standards, and I am quite picky most of the time.

The MkV I drove had black (or whatever they call it) interior, whereas the car today had beige interior, so my impressions maybe influenced by that. Both cars had the sport seats, which I find comfortable, if a bit narrow.

Overall, I found the fit and finish very good.

Are you sure you don't mean MkII?  Wink I think it has a heart very much like that of the MkV.
