Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

It's funny how marketing works. Last year, when the new WRX was introduced, Subaru went on about how, yes, the suspension was a bit softer, but the car was still just as hardcore. Chassis is stiffer, Petter Solberg was their test driver, he said it still rocked... yada, yada, yada.

Now that the '09s are out, what do I read in the magazines (Automobile in this case)?

"Last year's WRX was known in Japan as the S-GT. Subaru thought the market for an enthusiast WRX had evaporated, so it designed the S-GT to be a cushy grand tourer." http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/driven/0811_2009_subaru_impreza_wrx/index.html

WTF! Since that was apparently obvious to everyone who drove it, why would Subaru not admit as much to North Americans back when they were flogging the '08s?

Boo hoo for me!!
The Subaru forms are full of people complaining about the diffs between the 08 & 09's. It doesn't really bother me at all, there will always be better, faster, nicer cars. I wanted a new car last year, I did my homework and saved $8500 importing from the US, something I couldn't do now with the dollar were it is.
If I wanted too I could sink my savings into mods and end up with one hell of a car. Hopefully next year I'll go stage II, new springs (which I have but still need to install), sway bars and I'll have an equal or better car then the WRX 265 Smiley

Well from what I have read it will have more power but still slightly less handling. I guess I can live with that. If I can't there is always stage III.

Some how I doubt the WRX 265 will get the same real world fuel economy then the WRX does when driven spirited. Since the 265s turbo doesn't really spool up until 3000 RPM and they don't usually go over that when testing for fuel economy.

I have owned new wrx's from 02, have had three since, just got 09 wrx265 wagon, amazing little car...was at the lights with an 08 sti, he let me pull ahead and go...I drove an 09 sti, the 265 feels to 60 no question and a better daily driver...my mileage is better than my 06 was, even with spirited driving.  The take off is stunning to 30-40 miles per hr., on par with turbo porshe, M3, Rs4, i've driven all of above and I can attest...2000.00  in mods and it's 4 secs to 60....but what's the rush, life is short.
