It was a minivan that looked like a Dustbuster Grin

The 3.4 had good low-end grunt and did well passing on the highway, but neck-snapping, sunglass-returning acceleration was not really possible.

Your punch buggy just became a "one-eye padoodle".  I've seen lots of VWs with burned out headlights.  Wonder why?

Were the H1s the OE type bulb, or an upgrade?

It's the basic General Electric brand replacement H1 bulbs bought at Canadian Tire.  Funny thing, my H1 highbeam bulbs are still the OE ones that came with the car.



I find it a bit of a pain yanking out the headlight module to change the bulb, althought I am getting quite proficient at it now.  Smiley   On the other hand, it is not as painful as on my Civic (have to pull back the fender lining and those stupid fender clips).

Mine did that before it came back when the crank sensor died.  My next toy is going to be an OBDII reader or VAG-COM.

It should be illegal to make car headlights where the bulb can't be changed easily.  In some countries in Europe you have to carry spare bulbs or you can get fined by the police (I had to take some when I went to Le Mans), but what's the point of carrying bulbs if you can't change them.

Probably it will read the OBD codes. Checked on the Ross-Tech site and found this:

 Generic OBD-II functionality is "Supported" only on VW, Audi, Seat, and Skoda cars.   It will likely work on many other brands of cars.   We'd be happy to receive feedback as to what other brands and models of cars it does and does not work on, however, we do not feel obligated to make it work on other manufacturer's cars.

Generic OBD-II functionality is limited to cars using ISO 9141-2 ("CARB"), ISO 14230 ("KWP-2000") and ISO-15765 ("CAN") protocols.    Our interfaces do not support the SAE J1850-VPW and J1850-PWM protocols used by most US-market GM and Ford products, so this cannot work on those cars.    Most early (1996-2000) OBD-II compatible Chrysler cars used ISO-9141-2.   Many newer Chrysler cars use SAE-J1850 and are incompatible.     Most European and Asian cars use ISO and should be compatible.    In US models, Generic OBD-II compatiblilty was required as of model year 1996.   In Canada, 1998.   In the European Market, 2001 (gasoline-powered)  and 2004 (diesel-powered).



If you contact Ross tech and ask specifically if any customers have reported results on a Honda I expect that Uwe Ross himself will  answer you .

Oh goodie, I went to the local Canadian Tire and picked up the last H1 bulb in stock.   Those H1 55W bulbs that fit VWs seem to be a really popular store item.   There are several spots on the bulb rack for them and they're all empty.  Smiley
