The 911 it has been the same accept with a few mods of course since it came of Stuttgart Germany in 1960's. I even heard Richard Hammond  on Topgear said  Porsche must have the lazy designers ever......I'm not lone. They are lots and lots of people like me who think that very same thing........ Smiley

I wish more companies stuck with an amazing design when they created one.  Change for change's sake alone is lame.  If you don't like how the 911 looks...well, there's tons of other cars out there.  But they shouldn't rearrange its exterior solely for the say of saying "now it's NEW!!!!!11"

They did try to change the 911 several times.  The 928 was supposed to replace it, 911 buyers protested, Porsche listened.  They came out with the 996, 911 buyers said it didn't look enough like a real 911, Porsche listened. Many Porsche purists think the best 911 is the 993, the last of the air-cooled beasties.
We like the heritage, the instant recognition, the quirks.    It's not always about having the latest greatest most modern styling, there are more important things, like driving.

I'm right with you there. A 993 is first choice, although they are selling for more than a 996 nowadays.  An '87 would be my second choice, G50 tranny, no e-testing.

On a side note, right now I'm taking a break from installing larger torsion bars and very hard bushings in my '83 SC. Going up almost double in spring rates, gonna really ride like a lumber wagon now.   Now if I can just get them indexed properly, PITA.

Not if you go up the same spring rate in the front Grin
Actually I'm going up from 18.8mm to 22mm front, 87.5% spring rate increase.
In the rear I'm going from 24.1mm to 28mm,  82% increase.
This is probably the most popular setup for track performance that's still streetable.  Although with the state of Kingston's roads I'm not sure which streets I could still drive on. Cry

Every time I take my car out I regret buying the Sport because I'm convinced I'm going to ruin a rim just driving down one of our "streets".  All the construction only makes things more ridiculous.
