No sure this is the right place ..

I got my expected "Dear John" letter in the mail from GM regarding our 06 Saabaru 92x about the Canadian SAAB dealer network closing down and that I'll receive more info later about how to get service, parts, accessories, etc.

So .. just curious .. what generally happens with all the parts when a dealership closes down.  Any chance of getting some bits at a good price or do they just sell it off to some other GM dealer (who might be forced to do the warranty work later) or does it go to some holding area that shops order from (as needed) or Huh

Wouldn't mind getting some roof-rails for cheap!!

I suspect many of the "hard parts" you could get from Subaru.  Maybe even the roof racks.

oh I could definetly get the roof-rails from Subaru.

The underlying question was - if the SAAB/SATURN dealer has one (likely not), could I convince them to part with it at a reduced price.

I really should just haunt the salvage yard, but too lazy so far.

One part that I am worried about for the future is the headlamp assembly .. its different than Subaru's, and probably won't be a lot of them easily available a few years from now.

They'll probably liquidate to the highest bidder just like any store closing...

I think all the sheet metal on the 9-2x is different from the Subaru as well.

Yes, most of the sheetmetal is different.  But the hard parts (engine, tranny, etc) are shared with the WRX and STi...

Hmm. I hadn't clued in that Saab was closing completely. I thought it was only Saturn.
That well equipped  Astra for 10900 is pretty attractive. I wonder what the 93s will go for.

Some of the Saturn/Saab dealers are selling Saturn and Saab accessories on the cheap in the GTA. Its basically anything they have on the shelf. Don't know about Alberta? All parts, and whatever accessories that aren't sold will be transferred off to a local Cadillac dealer, along with the Saab/Saturn master techs. By law GM must honour, service and provide parts to Saturn and Saab vehicles untill Koenigsegg-Saab establishes their own dealer, service and parts network. When that is up and running everything Saab(from parts, service and master techs) will be transferred off to them.

A liquidation sale might convince me to gonear a SAAB-Saturn dealership...
Else I hope parts will still be available for my indy mechanic. For DIY jobs I order on line.
