Unless the engine overheated, which I doubt, the only damage was done to the fuel economy.

Again, thank you all very much for your responses. My wife was devastated at first as she thought she had ruined our new car but after she read your replies, she felt much, much better.

Anyway, the car is running very smoothly and so far, we love it.

Ahhh!!!! Finally got to read that 'thread' and I must definitely say I am definitely confused about what tire pressure should be used in a Hercules Tires G5000Z. I just wish someone would clarify this once & for all.

What do North American drivers got against revs anyhow? I had an old Datsun 2WD pickup (4 speed) that I used to go skiing. At 130 km/h it ran 4000+ for hours.

Truck almost made 300k kms.

My Mazda pickup is the same way. Happily howls along, now at 420k. Once I got a tach and realized where I was in regards to redline I even leave it in third and really let it work if needed, ie mountain passes.
