^ My guess is they tried the doors and couldn't get them open, and then called for help. If I were in a sinking vehicle, my first response would be try to get out... if that failed, then I'd start looking for alternatives.

That was my assumption too. They were underwater by then, trapped in a small air pocket with the doors stuck. What a terrible way to go.

The closest I've been to this was when hiking in a slot canyon and getting caught in a flash flood. Lucky for us we had a shelf to stand on when the water rose 5 feet in 30 seconds. I'm sure my heart rate was the only thing that rose faster than the water.

Until you are in a true life/death situation you really don't know how you will act. I imagine being in a sinking car filling with water and not being able to open the door will sadly end up the same for a lot of people.

People in a state of panic don't think clearly and/or logically. I watched the video and try holding your breathe for 30 seconds while in a state of panic while trying to push open the door.

We can ask all kinds of question about how it all happened but the end of it is, its a sad story with a shitty ending.
