Anyone caught the news on the exemption of 2002+ cars from Air Care? Does it mean what I think it is? Stage MCMVII for Saabaru with reckless abandonement!

You can check when your car needs an emission test. New cars don't need testing for 5 years.

What was the previous rule regarding Air Care in BC? Even new vehicles had to pass emissions? Ontario increased the exemption from three to five years at the beginning of 2006.

There is no Air Care for most of BC, just the major urban areas. If I recall properly, the initial exemption was for 2 years (although it may have been 3).

Yep, no worries here in the Heartland.  I think that anyone with a car in the south coast should have to do aircare twice a year, regardless of vehicle age.  We do not need anymore of your pollution here in the interior   Grin   Grin

I think testing should focus on vehicles five years and older. There is a high probability that the newer cars are not the culprits in non functioning emission controls. Not sure what the regulations are in Southern Ontario but there is no e-testing up here in the north

You simply cannot obtain a high degree of correlation with on-road emissions from a two to four minute test in a garage. - George Iny, President Automobile Protection Association

The environment is the current hot-button political issue. Though Drive Clean makes a negligible contribution to improving air quality and wastes hundreds of millions of consumer dollars annually there is little chance the government will do more than tinker with it.

It's 3 years.
