I've never seen a Tundra tailgate of any year come back on warranty.  However, I bent the tailgate in my 07 Taco loading ATVs so much so it wouldn't close.  Real turd that was.

PPL can post all the anonymous allegations on BBS all they want.  The fact is that the new Tundras are the best 1/2 ton on the market.  Toyota USA now has 0%/60mths on the remaining 07s so Toyota just may make their target of 200,000 units sold in the USA.

The diesels are coming in the 2500 and 3500 series.  I dunno if they will be HINO inline 6 or ISUZU V10 or a combo, but when they come FORD and GM diesel pickups will be DOOMED.  Both Ford and GM offer mediocre diesels for "full or extended warranty use only" because they are such unreliable units outside of warranty.  Other than the Cummings, the domestics haven't made a good diesel EVER.

PPL need to get over the Toyota jugernaught.  They are just supplying the market with product that the domestics can not.


   
Last year, top Toyota execs actually came out and apologized to investors for the quality control issues.

But where is the small pick up?
The Canyon, Frontier crew cabs are just about the right size,  place a nice diesel turbo 4 cylinder in it and it would be good to good.

Timing could not have been better.  What most ppl fail to consider is that GM is still losing money, or at best breaks even on every car they sell.  Who do you think can weather the pending economic downturn in the US pickup market the best.  A company that makes 16 Billion a year or a company the makes 16 Million if it's lucky.  Thinker

I suspect Toyota IS GOING FER THE JUGULAR.......the 50% or thereabouts US truck market...............and they seem flexible enuf to change direction fast..should SH*T happen....seems to take the BIG 2 +1/2... 5 years to figure it out Fire People and Hire an OUTSIDER CEO........... Thinker If I were a betting Man..............my Moneys on the TOY BOYS..........

The BS is pilling pretty high. Next we'll see Mike Rowe on Dirty Jobs talking about cleaning up this site (driving a Ford F150 probably). There should be standards governing tailgate strength, towing and carrying capacities. I read an article where engineers are now working on towing and carrying capacity rating standards for pickups. Currently each manufacture comes up with their own standards which ultimately makes their own product look better. There should be bench marks and standard ratings and evaluation methods. Makes product comparisons much easier for us consumers. It would make it harder to justify brand loyalty as well. We as adults should apply "critical thinking skills" to the whole prossess of vehicle purchasing as opposed to being emotional .Studies show that men are the ones whom are prone to emotional decisions and purchases when it comes to vehicles. Many of the posts I've seen prove this point.

I've seen and lived the silvercreek video-as far as these mags go its like teachers eh-those who can do-the others write about the things they can't perceive-like real pick-ups-I've worked for Toyota, but now am happy at Ford-I've also worked for Chev and Dodge-I'll stay put here-go ahead buy a Toyota-but Its the more money than brains thing

oops forgot something-I put 1090kilos in my f150 every week and drive 400k with it-reg cab 2wd-try that in a toyota-you definately will be lost in the Tundra

If Toyota is going to enter the market obvsouly they need to a top quality product, not a half assed one. And that takes $$. Fuel prices are fuel prices they won't ever be going down until gasoline cars a thing of the past.. They might as well enter the market now.

I think in time this will happen. I think most guys are brand loyal when it comes to trucks. Over time people will warm up the idea of buying a Toyota truck. Having said that, no, I rarely ever see one on the road.

I think Toyota will cash in on the customers that want something different. Personally I'm tired of looking at GM products in my driveway. Which the only reason I would buy a Tundra, there isn't 20 million of them on the road.

The "domestic" auto makers are currently offering huge price discounts. They've also been increasing the duration of warranty coverage. GMC is up to 8 ys. 160,000 km. Toyota is still at 3 yrs. 60,000 km. In the past one would say they are too reliable to need extended warranties but I've read that Toyota has issued a recall for drive shaft problems. Add that to their other problems and it might make a person worried. Consumer report has dropped Toyota from it's "recommended list".
Reading a magazine or "e-zine" test is more like hearing your buddies brag about casual sexual conquests. They have preferences and there may be one or two one might want to bang again but how can you be sure of the quality of a long term relationship?? Brand loyalty like a preference for blondes, brunettes, or redheads - every guy will give you multiple reasons for why their preference is the best.
In my neck of the woods the Toyota dealers don't budge from the MSRP. This past summer there was a "mega" car sale where all the dealers in Prince George took part. A Toyota Tundra Crew Max TRD was around 47,000 dollars. Ford had a F150 Supercrew Harley Davidson Edition marked down almost to the same price . I wandered over to the Dodge end of the lot and I had my pick of 1/2 dozen Diesel crew cab trucks to choose from for that price range. Chev/GM also had better deals. People will say resale is much better on the Toyota's. If you pay 6 - 8,000 more up front one would expect resale to be 6-8,000 higher.
Right now the only thing pushing me away from the Toyota is the price. If reliability is just as crappy as the "domestics" the only thing left is price and personal preference. I prefer the Toyota but I'm not impressed with the price.

first time i see the toyota tundra in mtl auto show,inside of the truck is very hugly what they did is look so cheep.poor design,remenber the old boom box ,and the news suv the same inside and your paid 45,000 for that truck..ouchh..
