Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

While driving around this weekend, Import Queen and I saw a neat looking red hatch.  We weren't sure what it was from far..but it looked sporty.  Body kit, fender flares..kinda chunky and sporty.  The wheels actually fit nicely and filled out the wheel arches.  It looked good.  Once we got closer to it, we could see it was a Hyundai Accent.  But it was a Hyundai Accent SR badging on the car.  I had never heard of this car, so when I got in, I checked the net for details.  Turns out this is a Canada only model limited to 500 cars.

I'm sure there is no performance increase...but it sure did make the little Accent look nice.  Has anyone else seen one in the flesh??

"Accent SR for 2008, and the new model is a fabulous little road car with wonderful balance and plenty of get up and go thanks to an already zippy 110-horsepower four-cylinder that gets better airflow via special SR air intakes. A sport-tuned suspension lowers its ride height and larger 17-inch alloy rims and low profile rubber make for a formidable little budget racer. A few faux carbon fibre interior mods combine with an uprated stereo and special exterior paint to finish it off. The Accent SR is just the first of many special tuner cars offered by Hyundai...."

"the Accent SR not only took to the asphalt with a great deal more verve than stock but also looked the part standing still. HPP had added a number of go-fast components that did just the trick in the parking lot, including a full body-colour ground effects kit, including side skirts and wheel flares, with integrated fog lamps up front in the lowered fascia and an upswept blacked-out diffuser in the customized rear valance, the latter complete with twin chromed stainless steel exhaust tips (an oval tip on one example) jutting out from the right side. A spoiler atop the rear hatch and another under the lower edge of the back glass gave the rear end and even racier appearance, while a chrome SR badge adorned the liftgate and black and red SR decals butted up against the clear-lens side marker lights just aft of the front wheel cutouts. Filling out those wheel wells was a stunning set of 17-inch alloy rims wrapped in four Falken Azenis RT-615 205/40R17s (stock SRs get 16-inch alloy wheels). And that was only the outside.

Inside, Hyundai had added carbon fibre-look trim pieces to the gauge cluster and shifter surrounds, plus the audio and HVAC faceplates and door panel armrests, giving the little hatchback a racier and more upscale character. A Clarion aftermarket audio system supplanted the stock stereo, while red embroidered SR floor mats completed the upgrade. Some other details, like the sporty looking seats, leather-clad steering wheel and aluminum ringed instruments were carried over from the already nicely equipped Accent Sport, complementing an interior that's already impressively put together by subcompact standards..."

Hyundai should transplant the Elantra engine in this Accent model.  That would help it's performance.

Yea!  That's it!  It was red, too.  Looked very good IMO...and the fender flares really looked good.  Like I said...from afar, I wasn't sure what it was...just that it was a hatch.  I checked all of Ontario for one for sale to see price...but there's not a single one for offer.  But with only 500 sold...I guess that's why....

That Accent looks great.  Maybe we can convince Hyundai to put the Sonata's 2.4L in the Accent for a hot hatch model.

+1 Very entertaining car for not a lot of dough. Seems like most everyone else has forgotten about that.
