Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

Yea..I don't mind cars that stand out a bit...

My friends is this color, which is stock, from what I understand:

No problem finding it in a parking garage, it just about glows.

I've always thought these were cool cars. Congrats on grabbing one.

Not a huge difference...but still pretty significant

Here is my rub with hybrids. So the Insight uses one litre of fuel over 100 km. For the average driver that is something around 200 litres a year, or $200 give or take. This is not even accounting for the fact Honda replaced the battery for free.

The Insight seats two, the Echo four. The Insight cost more than double the Echo.

But no doubt, the Insight is cool!

2 vs 4 thing doesn't apply to me..since I've never had more than just me in the car for my work commute.  So it could have one seat, and I wouldn't care.  And I was looking for a Yaris to replace my Echo...and they were quite a bit more than the Insight.  The Insight was never my first choice, but finding this one so well maintained and in the great condition it was PLUS being thousands cheaper than a Yaris make it a no brainer.

But this car certainly would not work for everybody.

I really like your little car. I feel you're be the last owner. Once the battery goes it's curtains. I'm surprised you'd pick such a complicated used car. But it is built by Honda so there is some saving grace and they going to be come quiet the collectors in the future. It is already starting in that area. I'm sure if put that car on eBay you would get more than you pay for it. Don't forget hybrids like to be warm up once the winter kicks in. Enjoy the write up too BTW.  Smiley

These things were going for big bucks in the Unites States of Amnesia a while ago...until gas prices went down again and they forgot why they got rid of their big rigs to buy Civics.

I like these things for their shape...a perfect rain drop!  Like the wheel fairings.

Apparently these fairings are a POS in the winter, and serve as snow scoopers/collectors.  I'll be taking mine off when the snow flies...

Yea, that's Bisi's car.  I've spoken to him at an event.  He fabricated an amazing Individual Throttle Body set-up for that car.  Really fast car!!

I think if I was going to mod the Insight (you never know!) it would be this http://www.99mpg.com/mima/

It allows manual control of the integrated motor assist (IMA) and improved fuel economy by a TON.

When experimenting, I was able to nail down 2.8L/100km (84 US MPG) mileage for a stretch of about 120kms.  This was at about 110km/h.

If this was steady speed, then the Hybrid powertrain was likely much less of a factor than the aerodynamics and the rolling resistance no?

I would guess that's a major factor.  But when you'd hit a hill or needed to increase speed, the battery assist would come on to help.

Also you can hit a sweet area where you are running on battery only, at least you can in a 2010 Prius, not sure if it true with an older Insight

Cool.  A few years ago someone was autocrossing an Insight.  It was faster than we thought it would be, but obviously not with the same tires.

This story is a few years old, but inspirational nonetheless.
