2010 Mazda3 GS sedan w/five-speed automatic
The mid-level Mazda3 GS sedan with new five-speed automatic transmission is a comfortable and sporty compact sedan that’s well-equipped for the price, says editor-in-chief, Greg Wilson. But stability control should be standard, not optional, he says.

2010 Mazdaspeed3
“A very fun car” with “a reasonable price-tag”, the new Mazdaspeed3 is a “tenacious handler” with a “comfortable” and “practical” interior, says Contributing Editor, Chris Chase. But torque-steer is still “a going concern” and clutch pedal effort is “heavy”.

2010 Mazda CX-7
Along with the 2010 Mazda CX-7’s exterior styling refresh is a minor interior design update, including a new 3.5-inch display in the new base GX model, and a 4.1-inch screen on the GT model, reports interior reviewer, Michael Clark.

2010 Mazda CX-7
With front-wheel drive and a less powerful four-cylinder engine, Mazda’s new entry-level CX-7 GX model is priced $2,000 less than its turbocharged AWD GS and GT siblings and gets better fuel economy, reports Contributing Editor, Chris Chase.

2010 Mazdaspeed3
Though there are interior differences between the high performance Mazdaspeed3 and the well-equipped Mazda3 Sport GT-E, they are subtle, says Michael Clark. “There is very little “Boy Racer” when compared to current competitors,” he says. “Say hello to the sleeper.”

Mazdaspeed3, 2007-2009
The Mazdaspeed3 is a great performer and a decent value, but comes with some reliability issues, warns Contributing Editor, Chris Chase. The left-side motor/transmission mount is prone to breaking and was the subject of a Transport Canada recall, he notes.

2010 Mazdaspeed3
The redesigned 2010 Mazdaspeed3 returns with the same 263-hp turbocharged engine and revised six-speed manual transmission but “changes focus on more smoothly and predictably getting all that power to the pavement,” reports Senior Editor, Paul Williams.

2010 Mazda3 GS
“Mazda has simply taken a very good car and made it better,” Assistant Editor Jil McIntosh says of the 2010 Mazda3 sedan. She likes its performance and handling, but isn’t too keen on what’s been done to its looks.

2009 Mazda CX-7 GT
A lower price and standard all-wheel drive make the 2009 Mazda CX-7 GT a better value this year, says Editor-in-chief, Greg Wilson. “The CX-7 combines car-like performance and SUV-like utility in a very handsome and distinctive package.”
