Canadian-only Honda S2000 Spa Yellow Pearl is $53,000

Unveiled at the Canadian International Auto show in Toronto, the limited-production Honda S2000 Spa Yellow Pearl will be available in Canada for a manufacturers suggested retail price of $53,000 plus freight and PDI. It's scheduled to go on sale April 1, 2001.

2001 Canadian Car and Truck of the Year

The annual Canadian Car/Truck of the Year Awards were handed out yesterday by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). The Chrysler PT Cruiser won "Canadian Car of the Year" while the Mazda Tribute was awarded "Canadian Truck of the Year".

Hatchbacks make comeback in Wednesday unveilings

Automobile manufacturers unveiled their new products to the press yesterday to get as much pre-show publicity as possible before the show opens to the public tomorrow. The theme for the day was the return of the hatchback as no fewer than six hatchbacks were revealed: The Ford Focus ZX5, Toyota Matrix, Mazda Protege5, Hyundai Elantra GT 5-door, BMW Mini and Suzuki Concept Compact Car.

PT Cruiser wins "Best New Design" for 2001

In addition to being named Canadian Car of the Year, the Chrysler PT Cruiser was declared the winner of the "Best New Design" award for 2001 by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). The award was announced Wednesday during the opening ceremonies for the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto.

Ford introduced a new, four-door 2002 Focus ZX5 model that will arrive in Ford showrooms this Fall. The four-door hatchback model will join the two-door hatchback, four-door sedan, and four-door wagon models.

Skydome is back - AutoWorld goes to 100 Mezzanine Level

One of the biggest attractions at the Canadian International AutoShow is the "AutoWorld" multi-feature area. Since 1997 when the Show left SkyDome to move to the South MTCC, many retail and accessory exhibitors have lamented the change. But for 2001 the SkyDome is back and with it comes AutoWorld on the 100 Mezzanine level.


Nissan dealers continue popular 'free parking' promotion

Each year more and more auto show patrons take advantage of the free parking service provided by the Ontario Nissan Dealers; this marks the fifth consecutive year the Ontario Nissan Dealers have sponsored the Show's most appreciated patron service.
