Detroit, Michigan - Toyota's second-generation Sienna minivan made its world debut on Monday at the North American International Auto Show. The 2004 Sienna is almost 100 mm (4 inches) wider and has a 130 mm (5 inches) longer wheelbase, providing more interior space for both passengers and cargo. For greater flexibility, each seat in the middle row (in both seven- and eight-passenger configurations) can be folded flat and tumbled separately, and the "split and stow" third row bench can be folded flat beneath the cargo floor for maximum utility.

All Siennas are powered by a new 230-horsepower 3.3-litre V6 engine with a lighter-weight aluminum alloy block and fitted with Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). The new engine meets future ULEV2 (Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle, Tier 2) regulations. Sienna's five-speed automatic transmission is controlled by a gated shifter conveniently integrated into the lower control panel of the dashboard.

In addition, the Sienna is now available with full-time four-wheel drive.

The front-wheel-drive Sienna is available in CE, LE and XLE trim levels. Four-wheel-drive models are offered in LE and XLE trim levels.

All Sienna models have standard Anti-lock Braking System, Brake Assist and Electronic Brake force Distribution. Sienna XLE FWD as well as LE and XLE 4WD models are further equipped with Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control. CE and LE FWD models have larger standard 215/65R-16 inch tires, and LE 4WD and XLE FWD and 4WD models offer P225/60R-17 inch all-season radials. The tires on all 4WD models use run-flat technology.

Built in Princeton, Indiana, the 2004 Sienna goes on sale early in 2003.
