GM to invest $500 million in Ingersoll, Ontario plant

Ingersoll, Ontario - General Motors of Canada announced that it will invest more than $500 million in new plant operations and vehicle engineering at its CAMI Automotive plant in Ingersoll, Ontario to build the new Pontiac Torrent SUV. It is expected the move will create more than 400 new jobs at the facility.

Formerly the home of the now-defunct Chevrolet Tracker and Suzuki Vitara, CAMI currently builds the Chevrolet Equinox, the first vehicle to be lead-engineered, designed and manufactured in Canada. The Torrent will be a Pontiac version of the Equinox.
