Chinese automaker will bring four vehicles to Detroit Auto Show

Detroit, Michigan - Chinese automaker Changfeng Group Co. has confirmed it will bring four vehicles to Detroit to display at the North American International Auto Show in January 2007. It marks the first time Changfeng has displayed cars outside of China.

Changfeng chairman JianXin Li says that the company does not expect to begin selling cars in the U.S. until later in the decade, and has established no specific timeframe.

Changfeng will display four vehicles sold under the Liebao brand name, which is Chinese for "cheetah". The CS6 and CS7 are SUVs, while the CY3 and CY6 are pickups.

Changfeng is one of several Chinese automakers that have indicated plans to sell cars in the U.S., and its display will be up during the entire public show. In 2006, Chinese automaker Geely Automobile Company displayed its cars only during the press preview days and held a press conference, outlining its plans to enter the U.S. market.
