Chicago, Illinois – The Chrysler Group's Street and Racing Technology (SRT) has introduced the 300 hp 2007 Dodge Caliber SRT4.

Based on the all-new Caliber, the SRT4 features 300 hp – 85 hp more than the original Neon/SX 2.0-based SRT4 – with 260 lb-ft of torque and an acceleration time of zero to 100 km/h in less than six seconds. More than 25,000 Dodge SRT4s were sold in the 2003-2005 model years.

"The all-new 2007 Dodge Caliber SRT4 achieves the SRT mission of offering benchmark performance for the best price," says George Murphy, Senior Vice President-Global Marketing, Chrysler Group. "With 300 horsepower under the hood, the Dodge Caliber SRT4 will dominate the sport-compact market."

The Caliber SRT4 uses a 2.4-litre turbocharged World Engine, produced at the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance (GEMA) facility in Dundee, Michigan. The World Engine is a family of small fuel- and emissions-efficient aluminum four-cylinder engines, co-developed by Chrysler Group, Hyundai and Mitsubishi.

Other features include a six-speed manual transmission, limited-slip differential, functional front air ducts, fog lamps, functional hood scoop with hot air extractors, an integrated rear spoiler 60 per cent larger than on the standard Caliber, 19-inch aluminum wheels, sport-tuned suspension, sport seats, interior "alloy silver" accents, and aluminum pedal pads with rubber studs for enhanced grip. Available options will include an SRT/Kicker high-performance audio system, UConnect hands free communication system and Sirius satellite radio.

The company also introduced the Dodge Nitro at the Chicago show, its first mid-sized SUV, which will be built alongside the Jeep Liberty.
