Affalterbach, Germany - Mercedes-AMG is unveiling the brand-new R 63 AMG at the Chicago Auto Show, powered by the new AMG 6.3-litre V8 with an output of 510 hp. The newest member of the R-Class will feature permanent four-wheel-drive, a choice of two wheelbase lengths, and unprecedented sportiness, spaciousness and top-class comfort for up to six passengers. The new model will be available in the third quarter of 2006.

In short wheelbase configuration, the R 63 AMG will reach zero to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds, with an electronically-limited maximum speed of 250 km/h. The package also includes AMG sports suspension, high-performance brakes, twin chrome-plated tailpipes, dark-tinted rear lights and newly-designed front and rear aprons. The model is also the first Mercedes-Benz vehicle to offer 21-inch AMG light-alloy wheels as an option.
