Honda sweeps AJAC Canadian Car and Truck of the Year awards

Toronto, Ontario – Honda was the big winner at the Canadian Car and Truck of the Year awards announced at the Canadian International Auto Show on Wednesday. The annual awards are sponsored by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC).

The Honda Civic sedan was chosen as Canadian Car of the Year, over finalists Honda Civic Coupe Si and Hyundai Sonata; the Honda Ridgeline was named Canadian Truck of the Year, defeating the Mercedes-Benz M-Class.

The Pontiac Solstice was awarded Best New Design, over finalists Dodge Charger R/T and Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class; while the Best New Technology award went to Lexus Direct and Port Injection, defeating Audi FSI and the Honda Civic Hybrid.

Each of the finalists had been named the winner in its individual category following testing last fall by AJAC journalists at the Testfest event in Shannonville, Ontario. A full list of all category winners can be found at the association's Web site at www.ajac.ca.
