Detroit, Michigan - Troy Clarke, General Motors President, North America, introduced the all new 2008 Chevrolet Malibu with a handsome new exterior and interior design and new powertrains to help it compete with the popular Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

The 2008 Malibu features a longer wheelbase which creates a larger cabin with more interior room and a smoother ride. The new cabin design features a distinctive twin pod dashboard, improved fit and finish and luxury touches. For improved safety, side and head-curtain air bags are now standard equipment on all models.

The 2008 Malibu will offer a standard 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine and optional 3.6-litre V6 with variable valve timing. A new six-speed automatic transmission will be available with both engines. ABS and tire pressure monitors will be standard on all models and stability control available on higher end trim lines.

The Malibu will go on sale later this year.
