New York, New York - Jeep has unveiled the all-new 2008 Jeep Liberty, which will include improved on-road ride and handling, new suspension, two Trail-Rated four-wheel drive systems and an industry-exclusive Sky Slider full-open canvas roof.

Built alongside the Dodge Nitro, the 2008 Liberty features a 3.7-litre V6 engine with six-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, all-new independent front suspension and five-link rear suspension, and Selec-Trac II full-time 4WD system or Command-Trac part-time 4WD system. Available features include remote start, rain-sensing wipers, memory seats and mirrors, MyGIG Multimedia Infotainment System, and express up/down windows. Standard equipment includes electronic stability program, electronic roll mitigation, all-speed traction control, advanced anti-lock brakes, tire pressure monitoring system and side curtain airbags. The Liberty will be available as the Liberty Sport and Liberty Limited.

"The all-new 2008 Jeep Liberty stands out from the competition by offering customers classic Jeep design, two four-wheel drive systems, refined on-road ride and handling, cargo and utility, as well as features that are not typically found on vehicles in the midsize SUV segment," says George Murphy, Senior Vice-President, Global Marketing, Chrysler Group.

The company says the new model is targeted to young couples and new families, as well as professional, single young men and women between 30 and 40 years of age, balanced between male and female. The new Liberty will be available starting in the third quarter of 2007.
