Auburn Hills, Michigan - The Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen has made its debut at the New York Auto Show, mixing practicality and sportiness with European styling.

The SportWagen will be launched this August with an upgraded 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine, producing 170 hp; it will be followed by the 2.0T four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 200 hp, and in early 2008 it will be available with a 2.0-litre clean diesel engine.

Like the Jetta, the SportWagen includes such standard or available features as air conditioning, anti-theft vehicle alarm, cruise control, CD player, four-wheel ABS disc brakes, panoramic sunroof, side thorax and side curtain airbags and traction control.
