Tokyo, Japan - Mitsubishi Motors Corporation will host the world premiere of the Concept-RA at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. The company says the new concept fuses a passion for dynamic, exciting driving with a heightened sensitivity for the environment thanks to a clean, efficient high-performance diesel engine.
The Concept-RA features Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) vehicle dynamics control and the Twin Clutch SST automated manual transmission used in the Lancer Evolution.
The concept is powered by a 2.2-litre 16-valve turbo diesel engine with MIVEC continuously variable timing control. Crashworthiness and weight are optimized with a new body structure using an aluminum space frame, and hood, fenders and other outer panels made from high-impact-resistance and easily-recyclable plastic resin.
