2008 Mini Clubman
Detroit, Michigan - The BMW Group has announced it will debut the Mini Clubman at the North American International Auto Show. The new Mini will be launched in Canada starting on February 13, 2008.
The Clubman features a longer wheelbase and overall length than regular Mini models, along with a rear split door made of two panels hinged at the outside, and opening sideways to a wide angle. The new model also includes a "Clubdoor", a rear-hinged door on the passenger side, which facilitates access to the rear seats.
The Clubman also features 260 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats, which can be folded to enlarge the luggage capacity up to 930 litres. It will be offered as the Cooper Clubman or the Cooper S Clubman, with almost identical performance and fuel economy to the hatchback versions. Equipped with the standard six-speed manual transmission, the Cooper Clubman will qualify for a $1,000 rebate under the federal EcoAUTO rebate program.
The Clubman will have its Canadian premiere at the Montreal International Auto Show later in January.
