Detroit, Michigan - Audi has unveiled the Audi TTS, the top-of-the-line TT model, at the North American International Auto Show. Scheduled to arrive in the U.S. in November 2008, the TTS is powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI high-performance engine producing 265 hp, with a zero to 100 km/h acceleration of 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. The TTS is available as a 2+2 coupe and as a roadster.
The 2.0-litre produces 258 lb-ft of torque between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm, but with an average fuel consumption of 8.0 L/100 km. A six-speed manual transmission is available in Europe, while U.S. vehicles will be fitted exclusively with an S-tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission. All models feature standard Quattro all-wheel drive.
The TTS will also include Audi's magnetic ride adaptive damping system, which allows the driver to select "Standard" for comfort, or "Sport", which lowers the body by 10 mm. Features include 18-inch aluminum wheels, bi-Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, leather and Alcantara seats, and grey instrument panel and steering wheel. The TTS Roadster includes an electrohydraulic drive for the soft top, plus a power wind deflector and load-through facility.
