2008 BMW 1 Series Coupe
A completely new series for BMW in Canada
Montreal, Quebec - Described by the company as the "spiritual successor" to the 2002 model of the 1960s, the BMW 1 Series will come to Canada in 2008. It has been available in Europe and other global markets since 2004.
The 1 Series models will use the 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engines from the 3 and 5 Series models. The 128i coupe carries a naturally-aspirated version, producing 230 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque, while the 135i coupe will use the twin-turbocharged version that was named 2007 International Engine of the Year, producing 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque from as low as 1,400 rpm. Despite their power, both engines will return high fuel efficiency.
Both engines will use a standard six-speed manual transmission, or optional six-speed automatic transmission with Steptronic manual mode.
Standard or available features will include dynamic stability control, active steering, 17- or 18-inch wheels, an M Aerodynamics package with Sports Suspension, navigation system, leather upholstery, auxiliary input jack and six standard airbags.
