Sister car to Toyota Matrix totally redesigned

Montreal, Quebec - Sister car to the new Toyota Matrix, the all-new 2009 Pontiac Vibe will be available with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive and the performance-oriented GT model will return this year.

Features on the new Vibe include a more powerful 1.8-litre base engine, new high-output 2.4-litre engine, faster windshield, all-new sheet metal and lighting elements, refreshed interior, standard electronic vehicle stability control and tire pressure monitoring system, fold-flat front seat, integrated cargo management system and six standard airbags.

"With the 2009 Vibe, we knew we wanted to take everything we liked about the original and push it to the next level - more power, more style, more versatility," said Craig Bierley, Pontiac marketing manager. "It has the interior room and cargo capability expected of a larger SUV, but with the precise handling characteristics you would expect from any Pontiac."
