The wagon returns in gasoline or diesel configuration
Montreal, Quebec - The all-new 2009 Jetta Wagon is based on the current fifth-generation Jetta sedan, and when it is launched this spring it will feature a 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine developing 170 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. In August, the Jetta Wagon will also be available with an optional Clean Diesel engine that will be simultaneously offered in the 2009 Jetta Sedan.
The Jetta Wagon's trunk area will accommodate 66.9 cubic feet of cargo with its rear seat folded, and if that isn't enough, items can also be carried using the standard roof rails. Optional on the new model is a panoramic sunroof, with glass over both rows of seats; the front panel can be raised or opened completely, without sacrificing any headroom, and an electrically-powered sunshade will cover everything when needed.
The Jetta Wagon's pricing will begin at $24,975, which is $1,500 less than the previous generation, while the Jetta Wagon TDI will start at $26,975, or $1,000 less than the previous Jetta Wagon diesel.
