Volkswagen enters the small SUV segment
Montreal, Quebec - The 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan represents Volkswagen's new foray into the small SUV segment. The Tiguan uses a new 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that delivers 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. Maximum torque is readily available between 1,700 and 5,000 rpm, giving it a zero-to-100 km/h acceleration of just 7.6 seconds.
The Tiguan is available in front-wheel drive, with six-speed manual transmission or optional six-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic manual mode; optional is a 4Motion all-wheel drive system, which comes exclusively with the six-speed automatic.
Although it's nicely sized for city driving, the Tiguan features a frame made of high-strength steel, newly-constructed steering gear and shock absorbers engineered with increased oil volume for the toughest off-road conditions. Options include a panoramic sunroof, new-generation navigation system with 30 GB hard drive memory, and rearview camera.
