Toronto, Ontario - Ford of Canada President and CEO, Alain Batty confirmed that the Marauder nameplate will be returning to Canada as a 2003 model. Based on the Grand Marquis with a 300 horsepower V8 engine, the Marauder is expected to reach Ford showrooms in the fall as a 2003 model.

"The 2003 Marauder is designed to elicit the same excitement that surrounded Marauder of the early '60s," said Alain Batty. "Marauder is a rebel, with a cause - it's an executive hot rod for customers who remember what it was like to drive cars that made you feel like you owned the road," Batty continued.

The production Marauder will feature:

  • All-aluminum 4.6-litre dual overhead cam V8 engine producing 300 horsepower and 310 foot-pounds of torque; true dual exhaust
  • Four-speed automatic transmission with a high stall speed torque converter and 3.55 rear axle with limited-slip differential
  • Performance suspension; 18-inch forged aluminum alloy wheels shod with high performance all-season tires (P235/50ZR18 front and P245/55ZR18 rear)
  • 225-kph (140-mph) speedometer, 7,000-rpm tachometer, temperature and oil pressure gauges and voltmeter
  • Leather-trimmed cabin; five passenger seating with "Marauder" embroidered in the floor mats centre console with floor mounted shifter.
  • Monochromatic exterior design with body surfaces finished in gloss black paint; dark-tinted headlamp and tail lamp bezels; "Marauder" embossed in the rear fascia and fog lamps integrated into the front fascia.
Marauder will be sold in Canada as a "limited offering" with only 500 available in the 2003 model year. Pricing will be released closer to production.

Marauder will be built at Ford of Canada's St. Thomas Assembly Plant where the Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis are built.
