Almost half of new MINI's pre-ordered before dealers opened

Whitby, Ontario - Of the approximately 2000 new MINI's allocated to Canada for the 2002 model year, 900 were pre-ordered before the first MINI dealers opened last Friday. MINI Canada offered consumers the chance to pre-order their cars on the internet.

"The reaction of the Canadian public to the new MINI has well exceeded our expectations," said Hendrik von Kuenheim, President and CEO of BMW Group Canada. "Although 900 of the 2000 MINIs allocated to Canada in 2002 were sold before the retail centers even opened, people definitely still have the opportunity to get a personalised MINI of their own."

The MINI Cooper is sold in Canada for $24,950 and the MINI Cooper S is priced at $29,600. There are 15 MINI dealers in Canada.
