Daewoo Canada's future uncertain

Markham, Ontario - Daewoo Auto Canada was not included as part of General Motors' purchase of Daewoo yesterday, but officials at the Canadian division say it will be business as usual, for the time being.

"The Canadian Sales Arm has been excluded from the deal, however, we are continuing to sell and service Daewoo vehicles through our network of 37 dealers at this time," said Brad Rome, National Advertising and Communications Manager for Daewoo Auto Canada. "We are awaiting further direction and information from Korea."

In Canada, Daewoo sells the subcompact Lanos hatchback, compact Nubira sedan and wagon, and mid-size Leganza sedan.
