Toyota Canada to supply Tundra pickups to CART racing team

Toronto, Ontario - Toyota Canada announced that it will supply three V8-powered Tundra full-size pickup trucks for use at this year's Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) FedEx Championship Series races in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal.

These trucks, which will be used as all-purpose, go-anywhere vehicles to help out wherever they're needed, join the specially-modified Tundras of the Simple Green CART Safety Team that will travel to all CART races this season. Equipped for instant response, each Safety Team Tundra carries a physician, a paramedic, at least two rescue/extrication specialists and a full complement of fire fighting equipment.

"Toyota performance is about much more than speed, it's about having the right vehicle for the right job," said Tony Wearing, Group Vice President of Vehicle Sales and Marketing of TCI. "While the Toyota-powered race cars of drivers like series leader Cristiano da Matta, Bruno Junqueira, Townsend Bell and Scott Dixon are dominating the field on the track, Tundra is providing essential safety support as well as help behind the scenes. We're very proud that Tundra is the official truck of the FedEx Championship Series."

The three Canadian stops on the CART tour are the Molson Indy Toronto (July 5 - 7), Molson Indy Vancouver (July 26 - 28) and Molson Indy Montreal (August 23 - 25).
