VW to unveil 300 horsepower Phaeton V10 turbo diesel
VW says the Phaetion V10 TDI has a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically governed) and accelerates to 100 km/h from a standing start in only 6.9 seconds. The ten-cylinder engine averages 11.4 litres of diesel oil per 100 kilometres (25 mpg).
Standard equipment will include leather upholstery and trim, front seats with 12-way electric position adjustment, an electrically adjustable steering column including 'Easy Entry' and position memory functions, and front seat belts also adjustable electrically to suit the wearer's height. The 18-inch diameter alloy wheels have size 235 tyres, and there is a choice of metallic or pearl-effect paint finishes.
In Germany, the Phaeton V10 turbo diesel will sell for 82,600 Euro, and will go on sale at the end of March.
In addition to the Phaeton V10 TDI, Volkswagen will premiere the Touareg 2.5 TDI (174 bhp), the Touareg V8 (310 bhp) and a V6 TDI version of the Passat with a power output of 180 bhp. Other new Volkswagen models on display in Geneva are the Touran, the new Multivan and the New Beetle Cabriolet.
