Mercedes Pre-Safe safety system wins fourth award

Stuttgart, Germany - For the fourth time this year, the Pre-Safe anticipatory occupant protection system developed by Mercedes-Benz has picked up an award. At the New York International Auto Show, the World Traffic Symposium conferred its Traffic Safety Achievement Award on the Pre-Safe system.

This award is presented by the Symposium every year for the development that has contributed most to reducing the number of serious injuries on US roads. Pre-Safe has already been honoured with the Paul-Pietsch prize by the "auto motor und sport" motoring magazine, the "Europe's No. 1 Car" award for innovation by the "Auto Bild" motoring magazine together with its 13 European sister publications, plus the "Most Sensible Innovation" award presented by a German consumer advice magazine.

Pre-Safe is able to detect an impending collision in advance and then react instantly to provide occupants with an optimum level of protection should a collision actually occur. In autumn 2002, PRE-SAFE received its series-production debut in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.Stuttgart, Germany - For the fourth time this year, the Pre-Safe anticipatory occupant protection system developed by Mercedes-Benz has picked up an award.
