Oshawa, Ontario - GM of Canada announced it will introduce two new small cars in the 2005 model year: the new Chevrolet Cobalt and the Pontiac Pursuit. Built on the Delta platform currently used by the Saturn Ion, the Cobalt and Pursuit will be in the same class as the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.

"We think the new names are a perfect fit for these two exciting cars," said Donna Martin, marketing manager for small and sporty cars at GM of Canada. "These new cars will add to the already impressive lineup of GM small cars including the Aveo, Optra, Malibu, Malibu Maxx and Epica."

The Chevrolet Cobalt will be available in coupe and sedan models in 2005 along with the Pontiac Pursuit sedan. A Pursuit coupe model will follow in the 2006 model year. Both Cobalt and Pursuit will be built at GM's Lordstown, Ohio, assembly centre.

"The small car segment is key for GM of Canada," continued Martin. "The performance, handling and contemporary design of the Cobalt and Pursuit will expand our market leadership in this critical segment."

The Cobalt will replace the Cavalier.
