Chevy Trucks sponsors 2003 Canadian Country Music Awards

Toronto, Ontario - General Motors of Canada and Chevy Trucks will once again be the presenting sponsor of the Canadian Country Music (CCMA) Awards to be held this year, September 5-8 in Calgary's Pengrowth Saddledome. GM/Chevy Trucks will also sponsor the "Rising Star of the Year" Award.

Tom Laurie, GM of Canada's promotion manager, marketing, said, "Many Chevy truck owners are huge country music fans. We want to be involved with activities they enjoy. That's why sponsorship of this award is important to us."

He concluding by saying "Music and in this case, country music, is a big part of what GM loves to sponsor. The CCMA Rising Star Award recognizes the talent of newcomers in country music. This award compliments GM's focus on youth and music."

Last year's GM/Chevy Trucks Rising Star winner was Emerson Drive, a great group that got its start in the western Alberta town of Grande-Prairie. After starting out in a basement and travelling Canada in a bus, Emerson Drive hit Nashville six years later.
