Honda Insight is fuel economy champ again

Torrance, California - The 2004 Honda Insight gas-electric hybrid vehicle has earned the highest EPA fuel economy rating for any passenger car for the fifth consecutive year in the United States.

The EPA rates the Honda Insight city/highway fuel economy at 60/66 mpg (3.9/3.6 litres/100 km) and the Civic Hybrid city/highway fuel economy at 46/51 mpg (5.1/4.6 litres/100 km)(manual transmission models).

"We're thrilled to hold the title of America's most fuel efficient vehicle for the fifth straight year," said Gunnar Lindstrom, senior manager of American Honda's Alternative Fuel Vehicle Programs. "Honda vehicles are consistently at the top of their class for fuel efficiency and low emissions and the Insight is no exception."

The Insight became America's first hybrid vehicle when it was introduced in December 1999. It utilizes Honda's (IMA) gas-electric hybrid system in combination with an ultra-lightweight and aerodynamic aluminum body to achieve the highest fuel efficiency for a gasoline-powered vehicle.
