Jaguar introduces Super V8 Portfolio

New York, New York - Jaguar has introduced an exclusive new model, the Super V8 Portfolio, to top its XJ luxury sedan range.

The car is the production realization of the "Concept Eight" show car introduced at the show's 2004 version. The Concept Eight was based on the XJ long-wheelbase sedan.

The Super V8 Portfolio is based on the same platform, and will be built in limited numbers for Canadian and American dealers in August 2005.

"The Super V8 Portfolio takes the Jaguar XJ long-wheelbase experience to new heights, reinforcing the contemporary luxury and technology credentials of our flagship sedan while adding even greater exclusivity," said Joe Greenwell, Chairman and CEO of Jaguar Cars. "It's a car with a real sense of occasion and one that demonstrates perfectly just how capable the XJ is right across the board."

Key elements of the Super V8 Portfolio's design will include sculpted aluminum power vents on the front wings, mesh grille, 20-inch alloy wheels and "Black Cherry" or "Winter Gold" exterior colours. Inside, there is leather and wood trim, individual power-adjustable rear seats with a large centre console, and an equipment list including Bluetooth connectivity, DVD system with twin rear screens, four-zone air conditioning and Alpine Dolby Prologic-II surround-sound audio.

Its supercharged 4-litre, 32-valve AJ-V8 engine is Jaguar's most powerful engine, and for 2006 it will increase 10 hp to 400 hp. An advanced six-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels; with its lightweight aluminum monocoque body and electronically-limited top speed of 249 km/hr, the Super V8 Portfolio reaches zero to 100 km/hr in 5.0 seconds.
