Hybrid Technologies to begin Smart electric car production

Las Vegas, Nevada – Electric car development company Hybrid Technologies is set to begin production of an all-electric version of the DaimlerChrysler Smart ForTwo coupe. Initial production models will be used in the European market, primarily in government and fleet retrofitting.

The British government is already working with Hybrid Technologies to introduce its lithium Mini Cooper into diplomatic services. The new electric Smart will also use lithium-ion polymer batteries, supplied by EaglePicher Kokam of Korea. The cars will initially be manufactured by Cinema Vehicles, which has already worked with Hybrid Technologies on electric versions of the Chrysler Crossfire, Mini Cooper and Chrysler PT Cruiser.
