Canadian Internet-savvy buyers rank Honda, Toyota and Mazda tops

Mississauga, Ontario - A new survey among 1,400 members of CarCostCanada.com shows that Canadian Internet-savvy car buyers have chosen Honda, Toyota and Mazda as their top-selling vehicles in 2005.

Honda and its luxury Acura division ranked first at 22.3 per cent of all buyers, while Toyota and Lexus ranked second at 16.0 per cent, and Mazda third at 13.1 per cent. Nissan and Infiniti ranked fourth at 11.7 per cent; GM was the strongest domestic carmaker, ranking fifth at 8.4 per cent.

Other notables included Hyundai and its Kia division, sixth at 6.5 per cent; Ford was seventh at 6.1 per cent, and DaimlerChrysler, including Smart, ranked eighth at 5.4 per cent.

CarCostCanada also reports that over 65 per cent of Canadian new-car buyers do some research online before making a buying decision, a number that has almost doubled over the past three years.
